Fly fishing Cabo San Lucas: seasons, water and access
Fly fishing Cabo San Lucas works year-round because two bodies of water meet at the Cape. The Sea of Cortez side gives calm mornings for sight-casting roosterfish and jacks off the sand, while the Pacific side turns on for dorado, tuna and skipjack once the water warms.
May through October is prime time for roosterfish in the surf zone and for dorado on a 10 to 12-weight offshore. November through April is cooler and cleaner, ideal for sierra, jack crevalle and yellowtail closer in.
We launch from the Cabo San Lucas marina and can run a panga along the beaches, an East Cape 4x4 shoreline day, or a full bluewater fly session on one of our sportfishers.
