Manuel Arturo Chacón is the founder and owner of Tag Cabo Sportfishing and Cabo Sportfishing Magazine, two of Baja California Sur's leading platforms dedicated to sportfishing, marine tourism and offshore adventure.
Since founding Tag Cabo Sportfishing in 2009, Arturo has dedicated his career to exploring and documenting the waters of the Baja Peninsula, building deep firsthand knowledge of the region's fisheries, seasonal migrations and offshore ecosystems.
Professional experience in Cabo sportfishing
Arturo began fishing the waters around Cabo San Lucas more than a decade and a half ago and quickly developed a passion for understanding how ocean conditions influence fish behavior. His approach combines traditional fishing knowledge with modern technology — sonar, temperature breaks and chlorophyll charts — to locate productive water.
- Offshore trolling for striped marlin and tuna
- Inshore fishing for roosterfish and snapper
- Bottom fishing for grouper and cabrilla
- Multi-day expeditions across Baja California Sur
- Advanced fish-finding using sonar and satellite data
Tournament fishing

Arturo and his team compete in some of the most prestigious tournaments in Baja California Sur. A career highlight is winning the Daily Tuna Jackpot at the 2024 Bisbee's East Cape Offshore Tournament, one of the most respected sportfishing competitions in the region.
Tournaments let Arturo continuously refine techniques and stay connected with the international sportfishing community.
Industry partnerships and education
Arturo is supported by several of the sportfishing industry's most respected brands, including SIMRAD, Shimano Mexico, MagBay Lures, Scotty Fishing Products, Nash Performance Lures, the SATFISH app and Morita Gaffs.
Through these partnerships he regularly tests and showcases the latest marine electronics, tackle and offshore equipment in real-world Baja conditions, sharing practical insights on the Tag Cabo YouTube channel and in Cabo Sportfishing Magazine.
